Volleyball’s Tigress Sisi Rondina Awarded BEST OPEN SPIKER

A hard-hitting, well-placed and powerful spike will never be Sisi Rondina’s Achilles’ heel in her volleyball career. In fact, spiking will always be the emblem in her moves and raucous power that can be compared to an attacking tiger towards its prey. This held true to yet another feather in her sport cap when she was awarded the BEST OPEN SPIKER award in the recently concluded Philippines Super Liga 2019 Women’s Volleyball awards night held last August 27, 2019.

Despite the moderate and quite unexpected bronze finish for her team, the Petron Blazers, Sisi shined bright  when she was bestowed this coveted award. When asked how she felt about it, she said, “I am more than grateful. There are a lot of things that I am grateful for especially to my team and team mates. God has been good in giving me a career where I can always marvel to and something that I can always, in many ways, do with a heart.” Sisi is known to have said that she does things, especially in volleyball with utmost fervor – something that more often than not, comes out as rage whenever she plays vigorously in court.

Recently signed up as a Firestarters baby under FAME (Firestartarters Artist Management and Entertainment), Sisi hopes to grow even more in terms of sharing her talents to many especially to underprivileged girls who also wants to be in her shoes someday. In the Maalaala Mo Kaya adaption of her life, where she was played by Kim Chiu, it recounted her struggles with poverty and inadequacies, something that she fought hard for all because she didn’t stop and continued to be inspired. “I am always in the hopes of sharing what I know and be an inspiration especially sa mga batang gusto talaga mag-volleyball. Mas masaya kapag maraming masaya kaya I believe that by inspiring others, one can be really happy! Alam ko ‘yan kasi hindi talaga ako sumuko dati pa! ” she flashed a smile as she said this.

The future is bright for Sisi. Tagged as a blessing in Philippine volleyball, she continues to soar high and with many awards at a tender age of 22; a captain ball of UST Golden Tigresses, a 4 time UAAP Beach Volleyball MVP, the UAAP Season 81 MVP honors and a member of the Philippine Women’s Beach Volleyball team and of course, playing for Petron Blazers in the Philippine Super Liga.

Go Sisi !!!
